LINEUP | マケンジー・コーン McKenzie Coan

ジョージア州に生まれる。先天性の骨形成不全症により、骨が弱く折れやすいため、これまで50回以上の骨折をしたという。2001年に水泳をしていた兄の姿に憧れ、水泳を始める。
2012年にアメリカ代表入りし、同年ロンドンでパラリンピックデビュー。400m自由形で6位に入る。2015年スコットラード・グラスゴーの世界選手権で初めて世界の舞台でのメダル獲得を経験すると、翌年のリオパラリンピックでその才能が一気に開花。50m／100m／400mと3つの自由形で金メダルを獲得、さらにリレーでも銀メダルを獲得し、一躍世界のトップアスリートに。身長は130cmに満たない小さな身体ながら、リオの後もその力強い泳ぎで世界記録を更新するなど、パラ水泳界を席巻している。底抜けに明るいキャラクターでいつも周囲を明るくし、読書や写真や旅など多趣味な一方で、同じく障がいのある子供たちと触れ合うための組織も設立。現在は、メリーランド州にあるロヨラ大学を拠点にトレーニングをしながら、東京パラリンピックへと続く国際大会に出場を重ねている。そして将来は弁護士になることを夢見ているという彼女の強さの秘密に迫る。

Born in Georgia USA. Having a genetic disorder that mainly affects the bone called Osteogenesis imperfecta; she has broken more than 50 bones in her lifetime.
She looked up to her older brother who did swimming that she decided to start too in 2001. In 2012, she made the US national team and made her debut in the London Paralympic Games. She was in 6th place for the 400m freestyle event. In 2015, Glasgow world para swimming championships she got her medal and 1year later she won several medals at the Rio Paralympic Games. She won 3 Golds in the 50m/100m/400m Freestyle events and Silver on the relay. Being a very small athlete, she has been rewriting the world records.
She has a personality that has the power to brighten people up. On her spare time, she likes to Read, take photos and travel. Also she established an organization that helps children with disabilities. Right now she trains at the Loyola University in Maryland keeping her mind set toward Tokyo2020. She has a future dream to become a lawyer; we are going to see what kind of strength and passion she has through the documentary.
