In March 2006, the WOWOW Broadcasting Center (Tatsumi, Koto-ku, Tokyo) gained certification in ISO 14001, the standard for environmental management systems.
In gaining ISO 14001, the Broadcasting Center established the following Activity Guidelines and proactively engages in such activities.
Activity Guidelines
１）We will promote environmental management systems compliant with ISO 14001.
２）We will contribute to protecting the environment and preventing pollution.
３）We will make the following promises:
- To establish environmental management systems and continually improve these;
- To contribute proactively to the prevention of environmental pollution; and
- To abide by matters demanded by law and any other requirements with which WOWOW agrees.
４）We will further the following important issues:
- The development and practice of environmentally considerate content production techniques;
- The promotion of conservation of energy and resources;
- The promotion of green procurement; and
- The reduction of waste and the use of recycling and appropriate means of disposal.
In terms of concrete examples of these activities,besides recycling tapes through tie-ups with manufacturers, we recycle unnecessary waste wherever possible when we renew our broadcasting equipment and thereby are cutting down industrial waste.
In addition, we show children and school groups visiting the Broadcasting Center our environmental initiatives, and promote an understanding among them of corporate contributions to the environment.
